Perhaps a little utopian, but its still a better world to aspire to than what we currently have today. All the people who seem to want to brand us an*rchists as hooligans, I draw you're attention to number (4).

Text of illustrated handbill sent out early 1999 and onwards

(1) Greek - 'an*rchos'. Without a ruler.

(2) Absence or non recognition of authority in any sphere. (1667 - O E D)

(3) A theoretical state of society in which there is no governing person or body but each individual has absolute liberty. (1850)

(4) The philosophy of a new social order based on liberty unrestrained by man-made law; the theory that all forms of government rest on violence and are therefore wrong and harmful, as well as unnecessary. (Emma Goldman)

(5) Whoever denies authority and fights against it is an an*rchist.(Sebastien Faure)

(6) A system of social thought, aiming at fundamental changes in the structure of society, and particularly the replacement of the authoritarian state by some form of non-governmental co-operation between free individuals. (George Woodcock)

(7) A political movement advocating the abolition of the state and the replacement of all forms of governmental authority by free association and voluntary co-operation of individuals and groups. (Leopold Labedz 1977, Fontana Dictionary of Modern Thought).

Even better, read 'Anarchism and Other Essays' by Emma Goldman; Pamphlets, leaflets and books by Kropotkin, Bakunin and Bookchin are also greatly recommended!
