Abolish the Racist Death Penalty
Radical black journalist and activist Mumia Abu-Jamal has been on death row in Philadelphia USA since 1982. He has been held on a fabricated charge of killing a policeman. His trial was declared a farce. It disregarded forensic evidence and relied on phoney witness statements taken under police intimidation. Mumia has been targetted since he was a teenager for being a member of 'radical' black rights movements in the USA. He was a member of the Black Panthers and MOVE.
In 1995 an international outcry against this racial travesty of justice led to his execution being postponed. This was done just ten days before the slaughter was to be carried out. Mumia has now been on death row for over 17 years, and his health has not surprisingly deteriorated rapidly. Last October the Pennsylvania Supreme Court ruled against his appeal for a retrial. Pennsylvania's govenor Tom Ridge is poised to sign yet another death warrant. A viscious media campaign backed by the Philadelphia police escalate calls for Mumia's death.
Stop Racism, Fascism and evils in the USA
Mumia Abu Jamal is a political prisoner, convicted merely because he wanted racial equality in a supposedly democratic country.
The USA has immense powers of interferance in European countries, let alone the third world. Ensure that this racism is not only confined to the USA, but defeated from outside of the USA itself. This world has enough conflict and tension as it is. This is down to those on the right wing side of life. The right wing is about greed, arrogance, ignorance and prejudice. Fight the against right wing, and fight fascism. (Just as an example, the leader of the British Nationalist Party was seen with the Brixton/SOHO bomber only one month before the explosions which killed people went off. This is why the BNP in Britain must be destroyed). International support for Mumia is growing. On the 24th of April, Mumia's 45th birthday, tens of thousands participated in protests and events around the world. The US longshore union shut down every port on the West coast for an entire day shift to call for Mumia's freedom.
